Blackpool Golfing Breaks

Blackpool may be synonymous with rollercoasters, donkey rides and casinos, but there is much more to do on a holiday to Blackpool, besides a visit to the Pleasure Beach. In particular, the area boasts a number of attractive golf holiday deals, taking advantage of the fantastic surrounding scenery.

The coastal setting of Blackpool makes a great backdrop for any golfing tour and St. Annes is a great place to start – just a little way out of town, here you will find superb properties such as the popular Lindum Hotel, and some truly exceptional golf courses. Try out the 18-hole championship course at Royal Lytham for example, or head over to St Annes Golf Club. You will also find plenty of hidden gems in the area, which offer a different kind of game altogether. Lytham Green Drive and St Annes Old Links are both easy to get to, and either one of these courses is likely to present you with entirely new and different challenges.

Perhaps the best way to plan your golfing break would be by first getting in touch with one of the local clubs. Blackpool North Shore Golf Club is amongst the most prestigious of these, having previously featured as a qualifying course for the Open Championship. Many players consider these to be the best greens in all of Lancashire, and the helpful staff at the club will certainly be able to point you in the direction of other great courses in the area.

Alternatively, Blackpool Park Golf Club is a slightly more homely affair, and offers a warm welcome to enthusiasts from other parts of the country. The club is based at Stanley Park Golf Course, and was designed by the same architect responsible for such courses as Cypress Point and the Royal Melbourne.

There are a good number of golf hotels around the Blackpool area, but you needn’t limit yourself to these. Have a look at some of the Blackpool hotel deals on offer, and you’re bound to find something that suits you. You might decide to stay on the green itself, or perhaps you’d rather be in the town – close to all the attractions and entertainments of Blackpool, and just a short journey away from the golf courses. Either way, Blackpool offers some fantastic options, for expert golfers and novices alike.
