Canaletto- one of the famous Venice people

Canaletto is known as one of the most famous artists in Venice, that became for his innovative landscapes. What made him being so popular in this field is his printmaking in etching. He was born in Venice, on 28th of October in 1697. His parents were Bernardo and Artemisia Barbieri. He started his career as a theatrical scene painter, which has been one of the things that such talent artists have done at 17th century in Venice.
He started using his famous topographical style, after his temporary staying in Rome. Most of his works are made  ”open air”.  Canaletto reproduced reality in his paintings, so he used a so called “camera oscura” to observe very far objects.
Thanks to the works, that representing the Grand Canal and Saint Mark’s Square, Canaletto has become very famous.  His art is considered in a certain way an Impressionism ante- litteram, because of his new style made of an innovative atmosphere effect away from tradition.

Travelling to Venice wouldn’t be interesting enough for the fans of art, if they didn’t visit art museum , where some of the Canaletto’s works take a place. If you can’t find more information about the galleries where you can see them, ask on the reception desk in  Venice hotel. Actually there are many hotels that organize short tours around the city, which include art galleries and museums, and the price is not so high, it is around 100 Euro for visiting four or five places in the city of Venice. So any Venice hotel can do that and sometimes in toursits packages there are such tours inlcuded.
