Footdee village- Aberdeen

Travelling to Aberdeen for a reason or another can't be fulfilled as well if you skip visiting the small village, called Footdee. It is better known as “Fittie” and it is located the east end of Aberdeen's harbour. It is famous with its roofs in medieval times. It is believed that its name comes from “ Foof of the Dee”, but nowadays it is used to believe that the name is a corruption of a former dedication to Saint Fothan.
Footdee's design is created by the Aberdeen's architecture- John Smith. The village is occupied by fishermen and their wives.
Actually the village can't be said to be a vibrant town, but with its little houses is still one of the most picturesque spots in Aberdeen and it has one of the best seafood's restaurants in the city.
Another interesting fact about Footdee is the chickens. After the troubles the locals had with poultry , the local court banned keeping hens and cocks as pets. The chickens ruined their thatch roofs, so that they did so.
So if you are hosted in Hilton hotel Aberdeen, it would be interesting to visit the Footdee village.
