See the World - Whatever Your Age

Who said there was an age limit on travelling? You don’t need to be in the first flush of youth to enjoy adventures abroad, and those who don’t fit the traditional image of backpackers in their late teens and early 20s don’t have to resign themselves to a two week break away each year in order to keep the travel bug at bay.
Worldwide backpacking trips are increasingly popular with retired people, many of whom have the disposable income necessary to make a round-the-world backpacking trip more comfortable than it would be for the average cash-strapped student.

Should you be planning to visit off the beaten track destinations such as Azerbaijan, for example, it would be nice to treat yourself to hotels in Baku once in a while rather than sticking to the hostel circuit for the entire trip. That said, the worldwide hosteling scene is no longer the ole domain of youthful travellers, and very few hostels these days actively market themselves as ‘youth hostels’. Hostels today can be comfortable and stylish affairs and provide plenty of opportunity to meet with other travellers, as well as helping to keep travel costs low by cooking for yourself in hostel kitchens.

If the idea of bunking down in a dorm bed doesn’t appeal, bear in mind that many backpacker hostels in cities such as Baku also offer double rooms, although these can actually end up being more expensive than renting an apartment or hotel room. You will have the added benefits of friendly fellow travellers, making hostels great for solo travellers, but if you are looking for Baku hotels Baku will have plenty of budget options. I use Baku as an example as it is illustrative of the kind of city that might appeal to travellers of all ages, offering fascinating architecture, rich history and very lively nightlife. Wherever you plan to head to on your trip, and no matter what your age, be assured that there are plenty of others in exactly the same boat.
