Short Breaks In Scotland

Planning a short break in Scotland is a great idea. The waters are clear, the air is fresh, the scenery is magnificent and the culture is rich and vibrant. Last time I was in the country was with my family when we visited because we could stay in a friend of ours’ uncles’ cottage for free.
It was last year in the summer and the cottage was located on the outskirts of Edinburgh meaning that we could easily access the city’s festivals by driving just six miles each day. We were there in August, which meant that we were around for the time when the Fringe, Film and Book festivals were all overlapping. There is also exquisite architecture throughout the city – I would certainly recommend a visit to the cathedral to see the angle of the steeple.

If you are thinking of taking a short break Scotland is certainly a great destination to consider because it offers such a range of various ways to spend your time. Another option other than the Edinburgh festival might be taking a trip into the Highlands to go trekking in Cairngorms national park where you can take hikes along paths mapped out by the National Trust past snowy-peaked mountainous vistas safe in the knowledge that you can’t get lost in the wilderness. There are also excellent accommodation facilities in the area, which you should explore by checking out lastimute.com’s ‘Secret Hotel’ deal.

In general, if you are trying to decide on where to enjoy your short breaks Scotland should always spring to mind. You will find that by investing your time in this magnificent nation you will find a home away from home due to the availability of fishing and whisky drinking. If you are a fan of spas that employ the purest waters that pour down from the peaks of the Highlands to de-toxify your skin using natural carbonation, then Scotland is also a great place to head.
