I was raised just a stone’s throw from Anfield on Merseyside and so though I moved to London with my family when I was thirteen years old, I have still always been a die-hard Liverpool fan. I got a lot of stick for it in my new school when I arrived in London just as my pubescence was beginning – not to mention for my thick Scouser accent – but I was not to be swayed by any of my new friends and remain a fanatical supporter this day two decades later.

Eurovision Song Contest 2012 - Baku, Azerbaijan
The semi-finals and finals of the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 will be held in the city of Baku, capital of Azerbaijan in the month of May. Baku hotels will be filled with contestants and other participants in the event and the city is looking forward to the economic gains as well as the publicity which the contest will generate for the city. For ex-pats such as myself, it may come as a surprise that the event is in its 57th year and has been the most popular televised event in Europe for over 5 decades.

Airport Blues
Like many people, I am not too fond of airports. Yes, it is very entertaining to see all those people come and go, wondering where they are coming from and what sort of business that they are engaged in, but it can also be a very lonely place; at least this is how I feel as I wait to board my flight to my country house hotel Scotland.
